Upholstery and armrest configuration move the price more than the frame does.
Worship seating is judged by people who sit in it every week for years. That changes the priorities: comfort over long sittings, rows that stay straight, and seats that can be recovered rather than discarded.
An auditorium chair that is comfortable for a 45-minute service is not the same chair that survives a three-hour gathering. Seat depth, back angle and foam density matter more here than in any other range we make, because the chair is occupied for hours rather than for a meal.
Linkage armrests fix the spacing between chairs, so a hall reset by volunteers still lines up. Where rows are not linked, chairs drift over a season and the aisle width changes with them.
A church or a community hall rarely replaces 300 chairs at once. Upholstery that can be removed and recovered locally extends the life of the frame by years, and keeps the replacement cost to fabric rather than furniture.

For mosques and prayer rooms the requirement is different again: a seat with a Qur'an table, for worshippers who cannot use the floor. It is a separate model, specified by the number of seats per row and the row spacing available.
